If your application is taking a long time to process with IRCC, then it could be a non-routine or complex application.
Here are some reasons why your visitor, work or study permit is taking a long time to process:
They are verifying your information and documents.
They need additional documents from you, such as child custody information.
You sent them unclear copies of your documents.
You have a medical condition for which you may need more tests or consultations.
You lived in Canada before as a permanent resident.
There’s a criminal, security or other admissibility issue.
They need to consult with other offices in Canada or abroad.
